A version 6 OpenPGP certificate is now used only when its primary key carries a valid Direct Key signature, as RFC 9580 sec. 5.2.3.10 requires, rather than falling back to the primary user ID binding the way a version 4 certificate legitimately does, since it is the Direct Key signature that carries a version 6 key's expiration and preferences.
